Dear Children and Frederique,
I am missing you very much. It has been a long time now since I saw you, but it won't be much longer and I will be back again.
It is very hot here now, but the children tell me that it gets much hotter. It has been around 35 deg.c. some days, and in my fur coat I get very hot. The children would like to know how hot it gets in summer in Fontenay aux Roses. Many children here have swimming pools at their homes, so they go home to cool off.
My photo was in the newspaper here! A reporter and a photographer came and wrote my story, and took my picture. Maria has sent a copy of it to you in the parcel.

Vous me manquez beaucoup. Cela fait longtemps maintenant qure je ne vous ai pas vu, mais je serai de retour très bientôt.
Il fait très chaud ici maintenant, mais les eenfants m'ont dit qu'il llait faire encore plus chaud. Certains jours, il faisait dans les 35 degrés et j'ai eu très chaud dans ma fourrure. Les enfants voudraient savoir quelle température il fait en été à Fontenay-aux-Roses. Beaucoup d'enfant ont une piscine à la maison et ils rentrent pour se rafraîchir.
J'ai eu ma photo dans le journal ! Un journaliste et un photographe sont venus, ils ont écrit mon histoire et pris ma photo. Maria vous a envoyé un exemplaire dans le colis.

Everyone is very busy here getting ready for the end of the school year. The children here are much older than you (10,11&12 year olds), but they love taking me home and writing in my diary.
There are only 3 more weeks of school left, and then the children here have a holiday until 31st January. It seems funny that they are all preparing for Christmas and it is so hot. Many people in Australia spend Christmas at the beach.
Australians have a special Christmas celebration called " Carols by Candlelight ", here in many communities, everyone gathers at night in a big area like a park, and they light candles and sing carols. I would like to be here to see that because the children tell me it is very beautiful, but I think I will be travelling back to you by then.
Maria has sent you a jar of Vegemite, because all the children here love to eat it. They have it on sandwiches for their lunch, and on toast for breakfast. I don't like it at all, but it is interesting to try new things
I must go now. Are you working very hard? I hope so.

Tout le monde est très occupé pour préparer la fin del'année scolaire. Les enfants sont plus àgés que vous(10,11et12 ans), mais ils aiment bien m'emmener chez eux et écrire dans mon journal de bord.
Il n'y a plus que trois semaines d'école et les enfants seront en vacances jusqu'au 31 janvier. C'est amusant de les voir se préparer pour Nöel par cette chaleur. Beaucoup d'Australiens passent leur Noël à la plage.
Les australiens ont une manière spéciale de fêter noël " Carols by Candlelight " (cantiques à la lueur des bougies), ici, tout le monde se retrouve la nuit dans un grand espace comme un jardin public, ils allument des bougies et chantent des cantiques. Je voudrai bien être là pour voir cela car les enfants m'ont dit que c'était très beau, mais je pense que je vais revenir chez vous avant.
Maria vous a envoyé un pot de Vegemite, parce que les enfants d'ici adorent cela. Ils en mettent sur les sandwiches au déjeuner, et sur des toasts pour le petit déjeuner. Je n'aime pas beaucoup cela mais il est intéressant d'essayer de nouvelles choses
